"Painting sets me free. I am unbound, joyous and purposeful. Each layer provides a new challenge and an opportunity for discovery – a surprising colour combination, an interesting texture. I want to create something so layered and detailed; the viewer discovers something new the longer they look.
The inspiration behind my current series “ApocaLIPS”, is the powerful, fully-feminine Woman. I took styling cues from fashion photography and emotional cues from the wonderfully empowering women who give me strength and encouragement. The lack of facial features other than lips represents the strongest asset a woman has: her ability to articulate thoughts, emotions and dreams. It’s also from these lips that we express our love for others and shower them in kisses and words of encouragement.
The most asked question is, “Why no facial features?” The female face is a unique and subjective beauty and can sometimes distract from the sentiment. So I allow the features of the figure emerge for the viewer as they read the quote and drink in the colours, textures and layers."

"After living in South Africa all her life, I immigrated to Australia in December 2010. Leaving the familiar; the known; the safe; I have had to adapt to everything new.
Recent paintings are inspired by the power of light on the landscape, and are a visual response to discovering new country and new secret places. My work is a response to my surroundings with the choice of subject based on a visual response to an image, particularly a subject where there is a strong sense of light and shade, and because strong abstract shapes exist in the image.
Working from plein air sketches and photographs, when the references are removed from the scene they become a “kick-off” point. The scene becomes transformed by memory, edited, altered and abstracted. The completed painting develops a unique character removed from the original and transformed by colour. My inquisitive nature dictates that I paint a variety of subjects, being drawn to landscapes as well as still life and interiors often with flowers as a focal point."

"For as long as I can remember art has been a way for me to express myself in a way that was joyous. It allowed me the freedom to be playful, serious, light, documentary, brave, or whatever else I wished to express at any given moment. Nothing about that has changed since then, but today the work I produce is influenced by my own ongoing personal development. Who I am and how I fit into tho the world are some of the questions I have searched for answers to. This unfolds into art works that incorporate philosophy on our origins of existence, belonging within society and the ever eternal quest for self-identity. Currently I prefer the mediums of paper, ink and acrylic, but I also understand that my own practice is ever changing in response to my own personal development, and am excited about the possibilities of new mediums and new forms of dialogue. Life is about love, and for me art is most importantly about expressing from my heart and letting that come through each and every piece of artwork I create."

"My style is modern contemporary and abstract.
Flowers, palms and the landscape have inspired me in some of my current work.
Sometimes I will paint intuitively, but most of the time I plan ahead.
I love to use bright colours, as it makes me feel happy, and I hope that it also helps others to feel the same.
I prefer to use acrylics and inks due to the quick drying time and they are also user friendly."

“What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes?
Here is the key to your earthly pursuits.” — Carl Jung
"Whether sculpting in mud, painting in bright colours or climbing my favourite tree with a good book; these were the childhood hours that passed like minutes. Creativity and nature continue to provide the key to my earthly pursuit of love, humanity and connectivity - connection to one another, to the earth and to the divine.
My current works use a mixture of acrylic, ink and charcoal. I enjoy a playful, spontaneous approach to creating and my paintings usually evolve intuitively. My works are characterised by many layers, each with their own story. I often paint over a ‘completed’ piece, transforming it while providing portholes into storylines that remain contextually rich in the under-layers. Most of my art has a story, some of it just playful and at all times, when I paint, draw or write; I am fully alive. "

"Art to me is a place to go to escape from the humdrum of daily life - like a good novel you can’t put down. I love it when I’m totally immersed in creating – I feel uninhibited. To me it’s therapy – a buttering of the soul.
My surroundings have a lot to do with my motivation to create. Just being in the midst of our beautiful Australian landscape is inspiring. I also find inspiration in the work of other artists; it may be a colour combination, a mark, a texture, a style, or a technique.
I don't always set out to produce art about any particular subject; I’ll paint a background and let it form itself. I like having lots of details to look at – so it’s not always just one subject, but lots of little stories blended into one.
I continue to experiment with different mediums although typically use acrylics & inks & charcoal."

"Making art is a freedom I have enjoyed since I was a child. My earliest painting memory was when I painted a butterfly at preschool. I reclaim childhood freedom and engage with the butterfly’s metamorphosis when I paint. Painting is an adventure which allows me to freely express myself without boundaries or rules. Inspiration is drawn from nature, travels, dreams and nightmares. My favourite mediums are acrylics, oils, cold wax and ink. My techniques include textured backgrounds, layers of paper, found materials and rich colour glazes. My love for land and sea strongly influences me. My work is a representation of my emotive journey to heal and explore the dark and light of my past and present while connecting more deeply with my true self."
